A Day at Whitby

Hi everyone,
Ive had a very busy day today, as tomorrow is my daughter Kate's birthday and as a treat she wanted to go to Whitby for the day.
We couldn't have picked a better day the weather was glorious, and Whitby was very busy.
Kate is planning to attend the annual Goth weekend so she had me looking for a long black lace dress which we did find on a lovely vintage stall.
Kate has a very unique style its goth mixed with vintage and alittle retro thrown in.We had a fab day and decided to go and see my granddaughter Maisey who hasn't been too well lately.

I adore Maisey with all my heart and as you can see she is pretty  special.

Anyway as i promised i would show you the card i made for Kate,s birthday, I've used the Beware Pirates stamp set which is retired but i love this stamp set I'm not going to part with it.

Bye for now take care and keep crafting Julie xx

Breast Cancer Afternoon Tea

HI Everyone,
Last Saturday i held an afternoon tea in aid of Breast Cancer Research. I usually try and raise money each year as i feel its a very worthwhile charity.
My good friend Sharon baked some gorgeous cakes and scones and the packaging was made from  stampin up products.
The afternoon started at 2pm and by 2.30pm my house was full, i couldn't believe how many people attended  next year I'm going to hire a hall and do the event on a much bigger scale.
Tea/coffee flowed and Sharon's cakes went down a storm.
I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and we raised nearly £200. Thank you to everyone who attended and thank you to those who donated but couldn't attended
Special thanks go out to Sharon for her gorgeous cakes and scones. Special thanks to Judith and Andrea for the scrumptious large cakes. Judith's cake got eaten and Andreas cake became a prize for the raffle.
And of course a special thank you and a hug for my gorgeous daughter Kate who always helps out  and does a sterling job. Anyway Ive posted some pictures but was so busy didn't get any pictures of the actual event ... Take care and keep crafting Julie xx

Gorgeous packaging made from Stampin up products.

Of course i had to test these tray bakes and they were gorgeous.........

Two of my favourite people i am so lucky having some fabulous friends and a gorgeous daughter, check my blog Kates birthday.

Scallop circle flower and gift box

Isn't this the most gorgeous box and flower. We made this box complete with belly band and flower.
The flower is made from 3 large scallop circles and 1 medium scallop.  I made a cut after every second scallop and using the stamp in mist spray i moulded into curled petals. I curled each circle and blasted them with the heat gun.
Glimmer brad through the smallest scallop circle and foam pads were added to each layer to give it height.

I love the way this box opens and it was so simple to make.

I promised my ladies the measurements as they are keen to make more.
Here we go........
First you need a piece of card measuring 11 7/8 inches by 8 3/4 inches.
Along the 11 7/8 you will need to score at 11/2 and 4 1/2 inches turn the card and score the same measurements from the other side.
Along the 8 3/4 side score at 2 7/8 and 5 7/8.
Going back along the 11 7/8 score at 2 1/2 but only to the first score line as diagram shown. Repeat on opposite side the turn card and do the same.

Sorry the template is alittle scryffy it has been used several times.

Cut as the diagram as shown.

I used red tape as this is much stronger than normal double sided tape.

Make the centre box.
Measure a length of card long enough tofit around the box then decorate.
If you need any help with this project please dont hesitate to contact me. Take care and keep crafting julie x
